This is just a sketch of a dream I had about demonic paintings. Let me explain. I dreamt I was in an occult "art gallery" (it was just a front, the building actually contained a gateway to someplace 'evil'). There were two creepy, overly friendly ladies running the gallery. They tried to get me to sign the guest book but I declined. I started to get the feeling that if I looked at every painting the gateway would activate. So naturally I acted like I was looking. I did look at a few pieces... which is roughly what my sketch shows... some of the subject matter of the paintings. A bunch of demonic faces.
I hope you don't mind if I use scary Halloween words, but this is excellent... The detail on each of the faces is great, and makes it look really controlled (ironic word for a nightmare! I mean artistically).
And yes, the composition is good too—jumble, misalignments, and all! The rough framing by the more detailed faces at top and bottom is good, and at the same time the composition is still nicely asymmetrical. (If you don't mind my saying it.)
Any connection to the ladies in Disgruntled Tea?
And please tell me, why, why, why do I talk so much?
Thanks... I feel, for myself, that I captured the imagery well enough... but it's near impossible to take what was in my head, which was running on it's own motor, and re-create the exact look and feel of it for an audience. At least it helps me to remember the bizarre films playing in my head at night
No relation to the disgruntled tea ladies... that I know of. No birth records have been recovered, but I'm pretty sure they are not part of the bloodline. These ladies were crunchy-looking (like Co-op shopping crunchy) and older, the tea chicks... they were young, and had a 'friendly' vibe to them.
Yeah, you've mentioned that before about the final product coming out different from the source material, or dream, or idea. No one, I suppose, is a camera, or even a tape recorder (no matter what you say!!), and you can't really buy paints in dream-colors. And as you said, "anything essential is invisible to the eyes", and a picture, after all, is something your eyes take in. But it's certainly quite the glimpse!
I will keep all this in mind the next time I go to the Co-op.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Featuring `ATrue's Literary Fundraiser, works from many Literature Groups on Deviantart aswell as Personal Choices and #Xpose-it's quiz night on the 26th March!
